Welcome from The President

Tredington and Blackwell WI have played an active role in the local community for nearly 100 years. More than just ‘Jam and Jerusalem’, our role is to enable our members to forge strong and lasting friendships and foster a real sense of belonging, whether they are new to the area or have lived here their whole lives.

We offer a variety of activities to appeal to a wide range of interests, from our monthly Craft and Chatter group – where members and non-members alike can come for a cup of tea and, more importantly, a slice of homemade cake – to lectures from external speakers on subjects as diverse as jewellery, gin and the forgotten women of the space race, not forgetting the very popular WI Christmas lunch and annual outings.

We also believe it is important that we speak up on behalf of our members on important social matters, whether these are local or national. Our members have a voice, and we are here to help them use it.

Another of our core beliefs is that you should never stop learning new skills whatever your age and we offer opportunities to do this throughout the year. Recent examples are an Indian block print workshop and how to attractively wrap your Christmas parcels.

As part of the wider Warwickshire Federation of Women’s Institutes, our members can also take part in events arranged at county level, enabling us to offer an even greater range of activities in which to get involved. There truly is something for everyone when you join our community.  We always welcome new thoughts and ideas for activities or events, to ensure that we can continue to offer our members a fulfilling and varied programme throughout the year.

If you have never considered joining the WI before, we encourage you to attend one of our monthly meetings and find out for yourself how being a part of our group can help you to meet new friends, learn new skills and broaden your horizons.

Please enjoy your journey through our web pages!
