Welcome from The President

Tredington and Blackwell W.I. has been in Tredington since 1928, serving the community and helping women to develop social contact, as well as learning new skills and enjoying friendships.

Over the years, women’s roles have changed dramatically but still at the heart of our society is the need for friendship and all that the W.I. can offer. Today we offer that friendship and by joining this large national organisation there is the opportunity to learn, play and socialise.

We are also committed to raising our voice on rural and national affairs that not only affect women but also the wider community.  The National Federation of Women’s Institutes has a very strong Campaigns Department and all our members have the opportunity to raise their concerns. Here in Tredington we hold monthly meetings with a variety of Speakers on many topics.  We also run occasional workshops to help learn new skills.

We hold a monthly Craft and Chatter Group, that is open to non-members, where we have the opportunity to share skills and enjoy a cup of tea and cake.  If there is enough interest, we will restart our Book Club and also think about a Walking Group as well as any activity that our members would like.

There are also many lectures and workshops available from our County Federation to be enjoyed.

When activities are resumed face-to-face we will hold Coffee Mornings again, which is a well -established social gathering for the whole community.  Having just refurbished our Hall and brought it up to date technically, we are planning a lot of new activities and want to continue to be at the heart of our community, helping to reduce isolation.

Visitors are encouraged to come along to one of our meetings.  We are a friendly group and you will always receive a warm welcome.
