About Tredington and Blackwell WI

We were formed in 1928 and we currently have 12 members.

We meet once a month in Tredington WI Hall, Tredington, Warwickshire.  Our meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month.  The meeting will involve a few announcements relating to WI business and some sort of entertainment.  This could be in the form of a speaker; a demonstration; a quiz; or a workshop. From April to September, we start at 7.00pm and there is always time for a cup of tea and a chat with friends.  From October to March, we commence at 1pm and enjoy some delicious homemade soup and a roll at the beginning of the meeting.

Our current programme can be found here

We have recently refurbished our WI Hall to make it a more comfortable venue.  Having installed an audio-visual system, hearing loop and blackout blinds we are looking forward to using them for films and presentations.  We have plans for community activities, aimed at combatting isolation and loneliness, which has been a problem for many people, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.  We use the hall to host quiz nights and film shows.  We have many other ideas such as social coffee mornings, a book club, plus other events to attract people from across our community.

We also run a popular Craft and Chatter Group in the WI Hall on the first Thursday of every month, commencing at 2pm.  You do not have to be a WI member to attend.  For further information please click here.

Shipston WI Group
Tredington and Blackwell WI is part of the local collection of WIs known as the Shipston WI Group.  We get together occasionally to host larger events that might be beyond the means of a single WI.  It also widens our circle of WI friends to meet up with our neighbours in this way.  Other members of this group include:

  • Shipston WI
  • Tysoe WI
  • The Wolfords WI
  • Newbold on Stour WI

Warwickshire Federation of Women’s Institutes
All the WIs in Warwickshire are part of the Warwickshire Federation, which is based in Warwick.  The Warwickshire Federation of Women’s Institutes arranges a variety of events for members throughout the year.  These range from trips, lunches, fitness days, book club, to workshops including willow weaving; painting; taiko drums; machine embroidery; paddle boarding; and floral demonstrations.  During the COVID-19 pandemic many events were hosted on Zoom and this platform may well continue to be utilised in the future.
